Arthur "John" Pearson was born July 19, 1920, to Hjalmar and Christine Pearson. He passed away July 14, 2010, just five days before his 90th birthday. John married Florence Margaret Jacobsen in 1944. They had two children: Christine, who died in 1976, and Robert, who lives in Portland with his wife, Donna, and daughter, Meghan. Florence preceded John in death in 1999. John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 where he served in World War II as a combat infantryman with campaigns in the Philippines and the occu-pation of Japan. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Star.
John worked for Portland's Columbia Steel Casting Co. as a molder for 47 years. His love of baseball led him to manage Little League and Babe Ruth teams in North Portland. A strong, generous, hard-working man who took care of the people he loved, John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
