I lost a great friend that gave me so many lasting memories. Terry and I became friends while we worked together at Wah Chang. Terry was always giving me advice that I was sure I didn't need. I can look back now and realize that I needed his advice. No short cuts, do it right and do it right the first time.
We used to have alot of fun at work, joking and carrying on.
One day he invited me to go to dinner. That's when I realized his love for music. There wasn't a song he didn't know or couldn't dance to. No matter where you were he wanted to get up and dance. Even if there wasn't a dance floor, he'd want to get up and dance. I didn't want to, but that didn't matter, I was drug out on the floor many times over the course of the years. I knew he loved to go fishing and he invited me to go. What I didn't realize was that fishing started at 4 in the morning! I made it a few times, but mostly he'd pick me up at the dock at 6:30. I was never to bring a banana in my lunch, for it was guaranteed bad fishing luck. (I wanted to test his theory, but was afraid I'd get thrown out of the boat!) I enjoyed many fishing trips on Sauvie Island, where I saw many bald eagles and wild life. Terry often corrected my fishing terminology-evidently they are fishing rods not fishing poles. I'd always respond, "Why hasn't anyone every told me that before?" I always had a good time, even if I didn't catch a fish-good fellowship. Terry would always clean my fish for me, in fact he wanted to do everything for me out on the boat; including bating my hook. I just had to sit and fish. We'd end our day arguing about him taking gas money. When I couldn't be there, Terry loved to call and share with me the size of fish he just caught. He'd rub it in that he was fishing and I was stuck working. Terry was my friend. I will miss him dearly.
